NASH Program Director

Global Liver Institute (GLI), a nonprofit patient advocacy organization founded in 2014, is seeking a

program director experienced in communications and coalition management to lead our initiative to

address fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a growing public health

crisis affecting more than 1 in 4 people around the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continue development and management of GLI’s NASH Council, a broad coalition of liver health stakeholders focused on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)

  • Coordinate implementation of International NASH Day, global public awareness campaign

  • Work with communications team members and/or consultants on NASH campaign(s)

  • Create monthly NASH News e-newsletter

  • Maintain NASH stakeholder database and contacts

  • Support CEO speaking on NASH and related topics

  • Prepare information for use in publications, website, social media and other outlets

  • Identify NASH-related opportunities for participants of the GLI Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3)

  • Contribute to future program development

  • Recruit and manage 1-2 interns

  • Attend NAFLD, NASH or related topic conferences as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, graduate degree preferred

  • 3-5 years work experience in healthcare communications, marketing, or public relations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, adept at organizing time efficiently

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other staff members

  • Ability to synthesize material and focus quickly on the essence of an issue

  • Sound judgment and maturity, exemplified by consistent professionalism in dealing with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Bilingual (French or Spanish) desirable

Policy Director

Global Liver Institute (GLI), a nonprofit patient advocacy organization founded in 2014, is seeking a talented, energetic experienced policy director to advance a US and international public health policy agenda in an under-recognized, under-represented disease area that intersects with obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, update, and execute the organization’s policy agenda in liver health

  • Articulate policy positions in compelling position statements, issue briefs, fact sheets, and other policy-related documents

  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholder organizations

  • Support NASH and Liver Cancer Program Managers in understanding and achieving relevant policy goals

  • Support CEO in developing and delivering policy presentations

  • Research and write the monthly Liver Health Policy Update

  • Identify policy-related opportunities for participants of the GLI Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3)

  • Attend relevant policy briefings

  • Recruit and manage policy intern

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, graduate degree preferred

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in Congress, State Legislature, medical society, and/or patient advocacy organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, adept at organizing time efficiently

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other staff members

  • Ability to synthesize material and focus quickly on the essence of an issue

  • Sound judgment and maturity, exemplified by consistent professionalism in dealing with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
